Optimist Club of Lindsay members joined Launch Kawartha Executive Director Corey Norman (centre) at Wilson Fields on the evening of June 3 to celebrate the recent delivery of soccer balls for the club’s youth soccer program — U9 action can be seen in the background. The purchase was made possible by a $10,312.11 LEAP (Locally based support, Empowering projects, Access, and Projects) grant in 2025 delivered by Launch Kawartha. The “launch balls” are emblazoned with Launch Kawartha’s logo.

We are a group of men and women who care about kids and have been working with youth in Lindsay and area since 1971. We proudly celebrated our “50th Anniversary” in 2021-22.

Our Programs

The Lindsay Optimist Club runs many events throughout the year, including a fall-winter dodgeball league for kids, a dodgeball fundraising tournament for adults, an 8-week spring youth soccer league, and our month-long Xmas Tree fundraiser each December.

YOUTH dodgeball

In both FALL and WINTER months, the Club offers an evening dodgeball program for students in grades 4 to 8 (ages 8 to 10 and 11 to 13) with a strong emphasis on participation and fun.

The 2025 FALL program will run every Wednesday evening, 6 to 7 pm, from September 24 to November 19 at ALEXANDRA PUBLIC SCHOOL in Lindsay.

Adult dodgeball fundraising tournament

In early April, the Club runs a Saturday dodgeball tournament for adults. Funds generated from this event allow the Club to continue to sponsor and support its numerous partners. Such an event is under consideration for 2026.

The Club is very grateful to the numerous sponsors and participants who step up to support this event.

7-week spring youth soccer

We had a great season in 2025 and look forward to another successful program in 2026. On-line registration will open in early February. Please join us.

december christmas tree fundraiser

Thank you for supporting our Christmas Tree campaign in 2024, our month-long annual fundraiser every December at Canadian Tire Lindsay. Selling Balsam & Fraser Fir trees allows us to fund our community-based youth projects. We greatly appreciate the support of Canadian Tire Lindsay and we look forward to providing your Christmas tree in December 2025.
